I need to get a 2" hitch installed in my brother-in-law's new Jeep I picked up for him.

He called UHaul in Alaska (where he currently lives) and it was $180 (TT&L)

I called here and it is $234 (TT&L)

$54 difference - not too happy.

Anyone have any other recomendation for hitch installation?

Thanks XO I will call them.
The $180 was from a UHaul in Alaska.
The $234 was from a UHual on Dallas Parkway... I understand prices are different across the nation but $54 difference?

Walmart, pickup a Reese brand receiver setup and in about an hour you can d-i-y for about $100.

They figure that higher concentration of people = higher demand=higher prices. BTW, i think U haul sucks

This time versus money thing really gets challenging sometimes!

it's a few bolts and some beer...on a jeep it should be pretty easy. even the wiring is easy these days with the clips that just splice in without any cutting

What he said, its alot cheaper and easy to do. People charge an arm and leg to put those on and its only 4 to 6 bolts.

Look for a "Hidden Hitch". They tuck in much better than Reese. Can't see all the beams from the rear! I have 2 laying around from Ford P/Us (1 F150, & 1 Ranger).

All the ones I have looked at getting to do myself require drilling on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Apparently since it is a longer body it does not bolt up exactly?

I had to drill a couple of holes for one of them. Just remember to drill a smaller (about 1/4") pilot hole then the big hole. Use new, sharp bits and that hardened steel drills pretty easy. The hot metal flakes witll find a way to brun you so wear long sleeves and eye protection!!!

You know that long sleeve thing makes sense Jerry. I usually drill and weld in the nude which can be uncomfortable at times but it will make your reaction times go way up!
