Gotta say, its a great car... the one I got is in really good shape, Comp Orange/Black, interior is steller, outside is a little rough, but I gots detail skillz, it'll look better in a few days...:dazed:

Anyway, it has a Bassani cat back, X pipe, Steeda Cold air, some sheetmetal looking mass air meter, and a 2.76 with idler... It runs pretty darn good, the dealer said they heard it was 480 RW, but who knows... It's definitely over 400 though.:) Any words on what to do next? I'd like to lower it, whats a comfy good handling spring to put on it?

Also, is the 2.76 going to hurt the blower from running it too hard? If so, I'm not interested in messing ANY thing up on this car, it is my daily driver, and I stretched to get it, no money to fix EXPENSIVE stuff.

So are you bringing it to the dyno day to see for sure?

I'm about 70% bringing the Cobra, it needs some dyno time and track time, plus it's so much nicer than my 86, and it doesn't stink like gas, so I like driving it a little more. I need to get my stereo in it, dunno if I'll have time to by next week or not.

To answer the blower question. Any time you over spin a blower it builds more heat, as with a pulley. Heat is a long term killer. Keep your foot in it all the time and it could be a life shortening thing.

The 2.76 pulley is pushing it a bit. There are many other things you can do to the 03/04 Cobra to attain the same or much more power and you wouldn't be over spinning the blower as much(ie..blower porting, lower crank pulley matched to the upper pulley for added boost).
Also, make sure the A/F ratio isn't running lean or BOOM out go the lights. I'd try to get it on the dyno just to make sure the guy/gal who had it before you had it tuned just right. Our cars can take the extra power as long as it's safe.
Good info about our cars can be found at www.svtperformance.com. Go to the Terminator forums on the list.
If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Congratulations you bought one heck of a car!

Congrats on the new(er) ride. What is the mileage? If you plan on racing don't forget to set some money aside for half shafts and an IRS brace. Else...

Congrats on ANOTHER new car Matt. lol. You and your Dad buy cars like most people buy clothes. But you have good taste in cars though too.

Cmon, don't wuss out on me. The 86 is one of my main reasons for driving all the way out to Lewisville from Wylie. I still have yet to see that thing run. :ermm:

But I did get the blower on my 93 Cobra. I can't get that stupid grin off of my face everytime I drive it now. It's nowhere near the level of your car of course, but it's still fun as hell! In June I will be getting my AFR's,injectors and meter. Then saving up for the stroker in a good block.

You're using the words "comfy" and "good handling" in the same sentence to describe a Mustang? - it's a rare combination to achieve indeed! :ponder:

Here is part of a post I made about 18 months ago regarding springs for your 04 Cobra - it's still valid today:

You need to be careful when picking springs for your 03 Cobra. The reason is that many manufacturers simply specify the same spring kit for the 03/04 Cobra as the ones they have been selling for the 99 and 01, and these don't necessarily work so well in the later model supercharged Cobra with it's different weight distribution.

Both Eibach and H&R list a single part number for 99 thru 04 - and in my opinion, they are not even close to ideal for the 03/04s - especially the Coupe. Steeda now lists an 03/04 specific spring kit for the 03/04, and I think they have done a good job of working out correct spring rates - these are what I would recommend for the 03/04 Cobra.

Lets look at the spring rates - the 99 and 01 Cobras had 500lb front and 470lb rear springs, as does the 03/04 Convertible - the 03/04 Coupe has 600lb in both front and rear - I guess they figure that convertibles are more likely to be boulevarde cruisers, while coupes are more likely to be tracked or flogged down a twisty mountain road?

The Eibach Pro Kit rates are 450-570 front and 650-825 rear. The H&R Super Sport kit is 700-760 front and 685 rear. The Steeda 03/04 Cobra kit is 720-780 front and 650-790 rear.

Now for best handling and control, the Cobra with it's IRS works best when the rear spring rates are equal to, or preferably slightly higher than, the front spring rates - Ford learned this with the 2000 Cobra R with it's 800lb front and rear, and finally got it right with the 03/04 coupe with 600lb front and rear. The Eibach kit has much higher rear rates than the front, and actually worked pretty well in a 99 or 01, although the front are actually a carry over from the 96-98 Cobra and GT and are a little too soft - and way to soft for an 03/04 Cobra with it's heavier front end. The H&R kit has better front rates, but the rears are too soft compared to the fronts - this is why Bowtie Killer has H&Rs up front, and Eibachs in the rear of his Cobra - they actually are a well matched combo, and his car rides great on the street and works really well on the road course race tracks.

Steeda have obviously done their homework and come up with an 03/04 specific kit that has very well matched front and rear spring rates, and the correct ride height for the 03/04. You will get a firmer, but lower ride than stock, but still very streetable, and the car will be able to handle anything else you choose to do in it like open track or autocross. The firmer rear springs also help minimise the dreaded wheel hop.

Your stock Bilstein shocks and struts should be able to cope with the Steeda spring rates - just! If you find that they are not adequate, then the ideal replacements would be the 2000 Cobra R valved Bilsteins.

Well I know, but driving Griggs suspensioned cars spoils the heck out of you. My dad's car rides like a caddy and handles better than his Vette, and hell my 86 with the sway bar hooked up handles great as well, and rides even better. I got some HR Races, they are going on today, but I honestly have no idea how it will ride. They are temporary anyway till I can afford some coil overs.:ermm:

I would do the cooling mod for sure and consider putting the 2.93 size pulley on because of the overspinnig issue and depending on the miles on the car look at the supercharger maintenence and consider changing the lube in it..look at this site:

H&R race are just fine for the 04 Cobra - they actually ride pretty well. Good choice!

No kidding! I finally got it wrapped up last night, had an issue trying to figure out the rears, and had a friend with a 03 come over and help, and man it rides AWESOME... handles much better too, the car has no roll at all...:)

also, you'll want to do the heat exchanger with that 2.76... And if you plan to run it hard in summer, the full Evans cooling kit (waterpump t-stat, hoses, pump inlet, and radiator). Lethal Performance has it as a package, and while it's not cheap, there's more than one guy on SVTPerformance.com who road-race/open tracks a twin-screw car, and never sees temps above 190...

............ and while it's not cheap.....

That's an understatement! :) Ain't nothing cheap about going fast!
