Okey dokey boys and girls....

anyone up for this NASA event? NASA MSR Cresson/DFW April 22/23 $250 (new 3.1 mile track) is the date to mark on your calendar for the next HPDE.

4 sessions each day, Saturday and Sunday.

After completeing one HPDE with NASA the next NASA event we can sign up for Time Trials and race against the clock against other cars in our class.

One thing....according to the website it looks like we will all need to get magentic numbers for the sides of our cars.

They need to be 10 inches long and both sides of the car.

I'll get mine from Protape in Carrollton (where Russ got his.)
VRRRROOOOOOMMM!!

The next NASA event at MSR is on March 4/5 for $225, but it will be on the old circuit - NASA has yet to decide whether they will race or run HPDE on the long circuit and if they do, that price may change before the April event.

You don't need to wait until April 22/23 to run the new long circuit anyways - the Porsche club should get to drive it before then and The DriversEdge will be running the long circuit on April 1/2.

Unless you have plenty of open track experience - and I mean plenty, not just one or two events in the last couple of years - or unless you have a road race car in the making, then I highly recommend you look to organizations like The DriversEdge or Apex Driving Academy for quality track time and instruction before you go play with NASA. NASA's primary focus is road racing and the HPDE is looked at as a feeder for racing series - the HPDE is run very losely and the instruction quality is very inconsistent, and frankly I have some safety concerns. Experienced drivers can look after themselves, but for newbies or those with less experience, there are better options.

If you are going to run TimeTrials, understand that it is a timed speed contest - most insurance companies cover street cars for non-timed performance driving events - open track, driving schools, HPDE, etc - but no insurance is going to be valid for Time Trials.

You don't need magnetic numbers for NASA - you do need to display numbers, but the old painters tape is perfectly acceptable.

Of course, the best value track event coming up is our own club event at MSR on March 18. Don, the Fordbastards are welcome to join us - details can be found here: http://forums.svttexas.com/showthread.php?t=8593

Looks like this next NASA event will only be run on the same ole 1.7 mile track as always. NASA has not opted to rent the 3.1 track :(
